Out of the Park 17 Officially Announced!

The longest running sports game series I’ve bought year after year after year? No, it’s actually not Madden, that streak got broken last year after all the way back to the IBM PC days. It’s OOTP baseball. And it continues this March.

Out of The Park 17 is scheduled for a March 22nd release, and the long running series is one of the first sims to be completely authorized by Major League Baseball and its Players Association. This year, they add features like “Realistic minor leagues going all the way back to 1919”, Improved General Manager AI (several different models to use), and a significant boost in speed from using multiple cores for game processing.

Really, the only thing left for it to do is to add audio play by play (the only sports sim to have done so was APBA “Baseball for Windows” featuring the late AND great Hall of Famer Ernie Harwell broadcasting.

You can pre-order at the Out of the Park Developments Website. Preorders are now open, and are $34.99 until March 1st, when they go up to $39.99.
